Bay City Celebrates America’s 244th

Bay City, TX — It is important to come together as a community, state and nation to celebrate 244 years of America’s Independence.  On July 4th, 1776, our founding fathers signed the Declaration of Independence which established our country’s values and virtues. This document establishes our inalienable rights; Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness.  Along with celebrating our Nation’s Independence, the holiday is also a great time to celebrate with family.  This year the City of Bay City is practicing physical distancing and will host a GRAND firework display in the field adjacent to the Schulman’s Movie Bowl and Grill.

Parking for the fireworks display will be on a first come first in basis.  Parking areas include:

Schulman’s Movie Bowl and Grille, former Ford dealership, Jackson Electric and the Shopping Center.  Schulman’s Movie Bowl and Grille and local food trucks will sell food and beverages to assist with enjoying the fireworks show by SkyWonder Pyrotechnics from your car.  Revelers lining viewing locations are encouraged to enjoy the full Freedom Fireworks experience by tuning in to radio station 102.5 KMKS to hear the musical score to which the show is choreographed.

Attendees are encouraged to practice physical distancing during the display and stay inside their cars.  Parking lots will be accessed from McCroskey Road, so please don’t turn in directly from Highway 35. The show will begin at 9:30 PM and last approximately 20 minutes. “We hope to add additional aspects to the event in the upcoming weeks to make it even better.” said Director of Parks and Recreation Shawn Blackburn.

Special thanks to our private business partners Arthur Milberger, Mark Schulman, Eric Gardner, David Catrell  and A.J. Punjani for allowing the public to park and enjoy the show.

Thank you to HEB and KMKS for being sponsors of the fireworks show.
