The 2,800 square foot splash pad is the latest amenity at the park and will be a focal point of park outings this summer. Bay City has contracted with Kraftsman Commercial Playgrounds and Water Parks to install the 16 different play stations and pad. The contract allows 90 days for completion of construction.
“We are very excited to give the residents of Bay City their first splash pad.” said Bay City Parks and Recreation Director Shawn Blackburn. “Splash pads allow everyone to have an interactive, safe, and fun aquatic experience.”
The splash pad features a series of nature themed spray features on a pond-like blue pad with cattails, reeds, a swan and a happy frog with a wet greeting. The new splash pad will fit in nicely with the other amenities at the park which include a restroom, playground, pavilion, corn hole pit, Ga Ga pit and basketball court. Future amenities may include small shade structures, picnic pavilions and possibly connection to a trail that will lead to the Junior High and High School.
“Parks and park amenities bring people together and build community. Amistad Park splash pad will be another public gathering spot where people can recreate and get to know their neighbors.” said Blackburn. A grand opening ceremony will be held for the public’s first opportunity to experience the splash pad when completed.
