Cost is $5 per person for youth ages 5 -17 years.

“Fishing builds confidence, improves coordination, teaches patience, and encourages an appreciation of nature,” said Kelly Penewitt, Parks and Recreation Manager.   “Fishing 101 is a great way to introduce our youth to healthier lifestyles and decrease screen time – at least for a little while.”

Fishing 101 will teach the basics of casting techniques; equipment, knots and tackle assembly; proper fish handling; fish identification and habitat; fishing safety, ethics and regulations and stewardship of aquatic resources.  This program is taught by certified TPWD Angler Instructors.
