New Playground Coming to Bayridge Park
Bayridge Park will get a new playground! Installation begins this spring! The Parks Crew has been hard at work removing the existing playground and trimming trees for the installation of the new playground made mainly of recycled plastic. This new playground will include slides, climbing area and much more. The park entrance is located at 1221 Bay Ridge Boulevard and is open to the public from dawn to dusk.
We went with a recycled plastic playground due to its durability. These playgrounds are lighter and softer, yet sturdy, alternative to traditional steel and timber products. Recycled plastic playgrounds are environmentally friendly, strong, waterproof and UV stabilized recycled plastic playground equipment has great color retention and durability to retain its appearance, color and functionality throughout the years.
These improvements are part of the City of Bay City’s Capital Improvement Program and Parks and Recreation Master Plan. Shawn Blackburn, Bay City Parks and Recreation Director stated “The timbers on the old playground had splintered and decayed which did not meet our safety standards so it was time it was replaced. The new unit will not decay and should last twice as long.”
