Youth Organizations

Kids in the OceanAs a family friendly city, we make sure our kids have lots to do from school clubs and sports to scouting and 4-H there is sure to be something your young family members will enjoy. Many of our organizations host events to support community projects. Our local police department hosts a 4-H shooting club, helps with National Night Out, supports a Law Enforcement Fish Fun Day and a Great Steak Cook Off. The Matagorda County Family Fun Day is put together by Bay Area Council on Drugs and Alcohol (BACODA) with the help of local churches and organizations.

To enable the youth of Matagorda County, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens.

The Boys and Girls Club of Bay City and Matagorda County provides young people with a safe place to learn and grow in the vulnerable hours between school and home. We are the only option in Bay City for many children seeking to have fun and participate in developmental programs in an affordable, safe and nurturing environment. We offer a variety of program activities and support services designed to assist in the educational, emotional, physical and social development of first through fifth grade students, without regard to social, racial, ethnic or religious background.

Bay City Lion's Club Teen Center

A Lions Club is an International nonsectarian, nonpolitical service organization whose members are a group of service-minded men and women who are dedicated to working and raising funds to make their communities a better place to live in. These funds help support their work with the handicapped, the under privileged, the aged, the sick, the blind, the deaf and the youth of their community.

Matagorda County Junior Fair Board

The Junior Fair Board is a great way for the youth of this county to make a positive difference in their community! The junior fair board is an organization designed to include younger members of the community in the workings of the fair. Junior fair board members help organize events, gather ideas for the annual fair and help clean up around the fairgrounds for the fair and other events.

Junior Fair Board Members help assist the Directors at events hosted by the Matagorda County Fair and Livestock Association. To be on the Junior Fair Board, you must be in the 8th, 9th, 10th, 11th, or 12th grade, attend school in Matagorda County and attend the scheduled meetings.

You may email Matagorda County Fair Association to ask any additional questions.
