Claus Applause

Bay City – It has been a blah year – Let’s end the year with light & joy and bring the Christmas spirit to Bay City!  Join us as we light up the city and celebrate the Christmas season!!  

We want to encourage residents and businesses to decorate for the holidays as part of Claus Applause.    


Contest Criteria

Residential Homes and Businesses within the City Limits of Bay City. 

Homes and businesses must be visible from the street.

By registering you give consent for your home/business to be publicized by the city and media.

Judging will occur December 7th – 10th.  


How To Enter

You can register at the Parks Administration Building, 1209 10th Street, Monday – Friday from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. or register on-line at  Go to the Parks and Recreation page and click on register.  Registration deadline is Friday, December 4th

Winners of the Claus Applause will be announced on the Parks and Recreation Facebook page and City Web Site on Friday, December 11th.

Sleigh bells ring, the lights are twinkling, it’s a beautiful sight, we're happy tonight wandering the trail at Le Tulle Park to end 2020 with festive lights.  


We have lit up 10 of the most gorgeous oak trees in Le Tulle for the Christmas Season.


We will light up the trees Friday, December 4th through Sunday, January 3rd from 6 to 9 p.m. You can drive or walk the trail.  Be sure to look for Santa’s Elves watching in the trees to see who is naughty or nice.  Take your best selfie with the elves tag us on Facebook #LeTulleElves.

Camo For a Cause!  Help Bay City Parks and Recreation raise money for the Bay City Parks Amenities on Saturday, January 23rd at Le Tulle Park.  11:30 a.m. ish start.

Run, Walk, Dance, Waddle, Stagger or Crawl the loop at Le Tulle Park in your best, craziest, most original camo gear (remember we are in public).  

Start your Camo Day off with donut holes and hot cocoa to charge you up to waddle the loop.  At the halfway point – re-charge with sweet treats, sweet tea and water to make it back to have your picture taken at the finish line.  Waiting at the finish line will be more donut holes, sweet treats, sweet tea, hot cocoa and water to revive yourself after the long, arduous Half K.  

We will end the day with an “awards” ceremony where everyone that finishes will receive their Half K medal and more photo opportunities. Trophies will be given out for fastest male and female, slowest overall and the craziest/most original camo outfit.

            Fee includes: Race Shirt, bag and medal

Don’t feel like walking or sweating on a chilly January morning?  No Worries!   For an additional $10 you can get all the Camo Half K “Swag” and finish line photos without the work.  

Registration after January 8th – shirts are not guaranteed at the event.

Bay City, TX – March brings rodeos, cook offs, Spring Fever and celebrating Texas!  What a great way to celebrate the Lone Star State with the 2nd annual Riverside Smoke Off!  

Cookers can enter 7 categories:  Brisket, Chicken, Pork Ribs, Beef Ribs, Beans, Dutch Oven Sweet and Best Decorated Site.   Awards will be given for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in all categories except best decorated.   

The kids are not left out – we added a Kid’s Cook Ribeye Steak category.  Ages 9 – 12 years and 13 – 17 years.  First place in each age category will win a prize and trophy.   Entry fee is $20.

Thanks to a generous donation from Lone Star GC3, cash prizes will be given to 1st place brisket ($1,000) and 2nd ($200); 1st place chicken and ribs ($500 each) and 2nd ($100); Beef Ribs, Beans and Dutch Oven Sweet -   1st place ($100) and 2nd Place ($50).

You have two options for camping and Brisket entry (must enter brisket category): Colorado Cove (water, sewer & electric) - $200 (price includes camp site, 1 RV/Camper and 1 car) or the Wilderness Area (water & electric) - $150 (price includes camp site, 1 RV/Camper and 1 car); Chicken, Beans, Pork Ribs, Beef Ribs and Sweet Dutch Oven are $25 each category.  If you want to enter an additional brisket the entry fee is $100.  You can enter each category multiple times.  You can enter the Best Decorated Site at no charge.   The theme is Texas. Additional camp sites can be reserved in the Wilderness at $25 per night.
