Camo Half K

Saturday, January 29th

Part of the 2022 Games of Bay City!

We’ve all dreamed of crossing that finish line, American flag in hand, exhausted from the competition, or sweet tea, donuts or hot cocoa. Now you get to be that person!

Join your fellow underachievers for a day (um, maybe more like 10 minutes) of glory, self-congratulatory celebration and participation medals to kick off the new year!

The 4th annual Camo Half K will be held at 11:30 a.m. (or so) on Saturday, January 29th at Le Tulle Park. (1135 Hwy 35 S)

Of course, y’all know that 2022 is an Olympic year, and this is most definitely not the Olympics.  Not even close. But in an honor of those fine athletes who actually “train” for a “race”, we are going to hold our own version….

Before the “race” charge your engines with donuts and hot cocoa.  The “race” begins at 11:30 a.m. (or sometime thereafter, you got time – CamoFest doesn’t start til Noon downtown anyway), run, jog, walk, dance, waddle or crawl your way around the lake loop at Le Tulle to the finish line to re-fuel with more donuts, hot cocoa and sweet tea!

We will end the day with an “awards” ceremony where everyone that finishes will receive their Half K medal and more photo opportunities. Trophies will be given out for fastest male and female and slowest overall.

Fees:   Pre-Registration  - $25;  Day of Event - $35

Fee includes:         Race Shirt, key chain and medal

Celebrating 80 years of the USO Building

February 19th

7 – 10 p.m.

Grab your dancing shoes and celebrate the 80th anniversary of the USO Building.  The Houstonian Big Band (formerly Billie Ledbetter’s Big Band) will perform swing style music from 7 until 10 p.m.

Dedicated February 17, 1942, the USO building has provided 80 years of public service recreational programs for military servicemen, YMCA, County elections, high school proms and now Bay City Parks and Recreation.  The Bay City building was one of 273 new construction projects or renovations undertaken under the Community Facilities Act. 15 of these were built on the Gulf Coast with only two known to still be in existence. In the past decade there have been over $1 million of improvements made to the building to help preserve its heritage and remain a vibrant part of our future.

Cost for the dance is: pre-sale (up to February 18th) - $25/single, $40/couple or $150/table of 8.  Day of: $30/single, $50/couple.  Cost includes roast, veggies, roll, tea and water.

Bay City’s Egg Hunt

Good Friday, April 15th, 2022

12 noon – 3 p.m.

Le Tulle Park

The annual Egg Hunt @ Le Tulle will provide as much excitement and giggles for adults as it will for kids, just don’t forget to bring your basket!  The Egg hunts will feature over 18,000 stuffed plastic eggs.

Throughout the event the Kid’s Zone will provide fun for everyone.  The Easter Bunny will greet patrons and pose for photos. The event will also host inflatable games, craft stations, Bay City Library “Story Area”, as well as games (backyard bass, corn hole to name a few).  Food Trucks will be on site as well.

Children up to 10 years old will be able to take part in the City’s now famous `egg scrambles’ for treat filled eggs and extra prizes from the prize booth and pictures with the Easter Bunny – don’t forget your camera.  This year’s egg scramble schedule will be:

  • Ongoing throughout the event for special needs children
  • Ongoing throughout the event for 3-year-old and younger
  • 12:30 p.m. for 4-year-old
  • 1 p.m. for 5-year-old
  • 1:30 p.m. for 6-year-old
  • 1:45 p.m. for 7-year-old
  • 2 p.m. for 8-year-old
  • 2:15 p.m. for 9-year-old
  • 2:30 p.m. for 10-year-old

Parents should note that each scramble lasts about one minute and is not repeated so children should be at the scramble for their age group on time.

Children with special needs will also be able to join in the fun of the egg scrambles at the “Beeping Bunnies” egg hunt area. This area will include beeping and talking eggs for children with special needs hidden among the hay.

All egg hunts and event activities will be free and open to the public.
