Both the Valiant and Hilliard pools have restrooms with showers and are staffed with certified American Red Cross Lifeguards.

Lifeguards maintain safe swimming conditions in the pool, deck and surrounding areas and positively communicate information on the Parks and Recreation programs and activities. Morning, afternoon, evening and weekend shifts available June - August; afternoon and evening shifts available September – May
If you are interested in becoming a lifeguard you must be at least 16 years old, a certified lifeguard and apply on-line at https://www.cityofbaycity.org/Jobs.aspx
Not certified? We can help. Pre-requisite for the class is: able to swim 300 yards without stopping; tread water for 2 minutes using only the legs; complete a timed event within 1 minute, 40 seconds - starting in the water, swim 20 yards, surface dive to a depth of 7 to 10 feet to retrieve a 10-pound object, return to the surface and swim 20 yards on your back to return to the starting point with both hands holding the object while keeping your face at or near the surface so you are able to get a breath and exit the water without using a ladder or steps. Two classes available: April 23rd, 24th & 25th or May 7th, 8th & 9th. Class times: Friday, 4 – 9 p.m.; Saturday & Sunday, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. Cost is $50 per person.
