Vendors, Peddlers & Mobile Food Vendors
Vendor(s) & Peddler(s)
Vendor’s/Peddler’s Licenses are required for any and all persons who do not reside in Matagorda County or have a business located therein. The license application must include all of the following:
- A Vendor Permit Application (PDF) for each individual selling (not per business)
- A Texas State Sales Tax ID permit issued by the State Comptroller’s Office (contact the Office at 800-252-5555)
- A Photo ID
- Copy of license/permit from the Matagorda County Environmental Services (Health Department) if selling food items, including produce (contact the Department at 979-244-2717)
- A vendor’s bond from a local (Bay City or affiliated) insurance company in the amount of $3,000 Bond or a blanket bond to cover a group. The City Attorney has to approve said bond
- Criminal History check by the Bay City Police Department
- Two passport-size color photos
Please submit the completed items to the City Secretary’s Office for processing.
Vendors/Peddlers who are residents of and/or whose business is located in Matagorda County that will be selling any type of food or produce are required to comply with the licensing/permitting policies of the Matagorda County Environmental Services. Contact their office at 979-244-2717.
Fees
The license fee is $50 per month per peddler or $70 per year per peddler.
Mobile Food Vendor(s)
Mobile Food Vendors will be required to complete a permit application in order to operate a mobile food establishment. A mobile food establishment is considered a vehicle mounted food establishment that is readily moveable. The following requirements have to be met prior to approval:
- Completed Mobile Food Establishment Permit Application (PDF)
- Copy of license/permit from the Matagorda County Environmental Services (Health Department) if selling food items, including produce (contact the Department at 979-244-2717)
- Operator(s) and/or employee(s) have to have a food handling permit
Please submit the completed items to the City Secretary’s Office for processing.
Fees
The permitting fee is $100 per year.
