Failure to appear

How should payment be made for my citation?
All payments should be cash, money order, or Visa and MasterCard.

Where is my ticket filed?
Our court only processes cases originated with the Bay City Police Department. If DPS or Matagorda County issued you a ticket you need to contact the JP’s office listed at the bottom of your citation.

Eligibility for Driving Safety Course:
You are eligible for DSC if you have not had a course within the previous calendar year. Your ticket can not be speeding for more than 25 miles over the speed limit. You must have a valid Texas driver’s license and current insurance proof to qualify for DSC. The fee to request DSC is $112.00.

Information needed to request DSC: 
  • When requesting DSC you must complete the Affidavit for Drivers Safety Course given to you by the officer issuing the ticket. This form must be notarized.
  • You will have 90 days to complete the course and 90 days to have all paperwork turned into the court so that your citation can be dismissed.
  • You may take the DSC with any Texas credited course. 

Insurance dismissals:

To have an insurance ticket dismissed you must provide proof of insurance that is current on the day the ticket was received. Our clerks will verify coverage before dismissing ticket.
