The museum is housed in the beautiful old post office building erected in 1918, serving as a post office until 1989. A neoclassic and Beaux Arts Classic architecture style, the beauty of the building stands out with the landscape as it was in 1918. A Texas State Historical marker dedicated in 1992 at the formal opening of the museum tells the history of the building.
The first floor houses exhibits outlining the early settlement, industry and social and cultural history of the county. An archives room houses an extensive collection of photos, family histories, newspapers and county documents. The public has limited access to these files. Archive volunteers will be glad to assist researchers on Thursday afternoons from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. The Stanley-Humphries Auditorium houses traveling exhibits and also serves as a theater, lecture hall or special function room for activities, such as weddings, reunions and birthdays. |

A garden room may be rented for club meetings, private luncheons and special events. |
