Sparks in the Park
Bay City Celebrates America’s 242nd
Bay City, TX — This 4th of July we celebrate our Nation’s 242nd birthday. On this day our founding fathers signed the Declaration of Independence which established our country’s values and virtues. This document establishes our inalienable rights; Life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Along with celebrating our Nation’s birthday, the holiday is also a great time to celebrate with family and friends and what a better place to celebrate than at Le Tulle Park with the Annual Sparks in the Park Event.
The evening event will offer something for the entire family. This year there will be two musical performances, children’s activities, food and refreshment booths and fabulous fireworks show choreographed to patriotic music. So, grab your blanket, chairs and be awed by this night of music, games, food and fireworks!
The event will kick off with our first ever Patriotic Stick Horse Parade and contest at 5 p.m. Bring out your best decorated stick horse and trot over in the parade for the judging. Stick horses will be judged on best decorated and most creative.
This year the musical performances will kick off with Cooper Wade at 5:30 p.m. Cooper Wade is the next big thing coming out of the Lone Star State! An extremely talented musician and accomplished singer/songwriter Cooper is an incredible entertainer that plays a mix of rock and country music.
The night’s headliner – Bayou Roux - kicks off at 8 p.m. Like the many tasty ingredients in a simmering pot of gumbo, the Cajun rock band Bayou Roux has blended years of diverse musical backgrounds into a unique sound that they like to call the “Cajun Commotion.” What a recipe. What a sound. Fans have found that a pinch of rock, a scoop of county and a heapin’ helpin’ of downhome Cajun/Zydeco heritage heated to the boiling point that makes for a musical experience like no other.
To end the evening, we will light up the sky with the biggest fireworks show in Matagorda County! The unique 15-minute firework show which will illuminate the skies over Le Tulle Park and leave everyone with a jaw-dropping memory to take home starting at 9:30 p.m. Every seat in the park will be the best seat to catch the show.
