Christmastime in the Parks

Bay City, TX – The holidays are upon us and the City will be filled Christmas joy, music and lights!  This year the Parks and Recreation Department will be hosting 3 (three) fun filled events in the Parks.

Snacks with Santa

The season’s festivities will kick off with the Christmas Parade (hosted by the Bay City Chamber of Commerce) on Tuesday, December 5th.  Right after the parade Santa will park his sleigh at Liberty Park (2004 6th Street – under the water tower) for a special meet and greet with all the good boys and girls.  Hot Cocoa and S’Mores will be served from 8 – 10 p.m.

Christmas at Liberty Park

The Christmas fun continues Saturday, December 9th from 12 noon – 4 p.m. at Liberty Park.  Our day will start off at the Library with the Christmas Bike Parade at 11 a.m.  Participants will bike down 6th street and end at Liberty Park.

At Liberty Park we will host a variety of games, activities, photo ops and crafts.  Throughout the event there will be musical entertainment provided by the local ISD’s.  Of course no Christmas Celebration would be complete without an opportunity to have your photo taken with Santa ($1/photo).  Also included will be a Food Truck Alley with some local food trucks as well as some regional favorites.

Movie In The Outfield

The season’s festivities will end with our 2nd Movie in the Outfield featuring “Fred Claus” at the Sports Complex.

Fred Claus, Santa's bitter older brother, is forced to move to the North Pole to help Santa and the elves prepare for Christmas in exchange for cash.  The trouble is that Fred isn't exactly elf material and with Christmas fast approaching, this one bad seed could jeopardize the jolliest holiday of the year. Has Fred finally pushed his little brother to the brink? This time, what Fred may have stolen is Christmas itself, and it is going to take more than Rudolph to set things right.

Bring your chairs and blankets to sit on and keep warm with during the movie.  Tickets are $2/person.  At the end of the movie Happy Radio will do a prize drawing from those that attended the movie!

Refreshments will be sold by Fat Boys Catering.
