Routine Monitoring Violation  Total  Coliform Rule

City of Bay City - Letulle Park Public Water System, ID# 1610047 failed to collect the required number of bacteriological samples for coliform monitoring of the water distribution system during the month of March 2015. This monitoring is required by the Texas Commission of Environmental Quality's {TCEQ} "Drinking Water Standards" and the federal "Safe Drinking Water Act," Public Law 95-523.

Bacteriological samples are used to monitor water quality and indicate if the water is free of coliform bacteria. Our water system is required to submit two {2} bacteriological samples each month. In addition, if lab results indicate our system has collected has one (1} or more total coliform-positive samples and TCEQ's Executive Director does not invalidate the sample, our water system is required to collect five (5} bacteriological samples the next month. We collected the required two (2} samples in February 2015. One of the two samples indicated coliform¬≠ positive bacteria. Re-sampling was completed within twenty-four {24} hours - all re-samples were free of coliform bacteria. However, we failed to collect the required five {5} samples in March 2015. Furthermore, samples collected since March have all been free of coliform bacteria. Failure to collect all required bacteriological samples is a violation of the monitoring requirements and we are required to notify you of this violation.

If you have any questions regarding this violation, you may contact: Krystal  Mason,  Water/ Wastewater Quality  Coordinator at 979-323-1692 .
